Maria DaCunha has been appointed Legal Director at British Airways with effect from April 1st 2002.
She will head up the in-house legal department and report to Robert Webb, QC. General Counsel.
Maria, 39, joined British Airways in January 2000 as Competition Lawyer from Lloyds of London.
She replaces Stephen Walsh who is leaving the airline at the end of March to take up the position of General Counsel at Associated British Ports.
British Airways General Counsel Robert Webb, said: ” I am delighted to announce this appointment. Maria will continue as the company guru on competition law. I am confident that she has, in addition, all the necessary skills and verve to lead the department.”
She has two children aged 8 and 6. Her hobbies include sailing.
