American Airlines Reports Feb Traffic

American Airlines reported its systemwide traffic in February decreased 13.7 percent from February 2001, on a capacity decrease of 17.2 percent. The system load factor was 67.6 percent, up 2.8 points from a year ago.

American’s February on-time performance, reported to the Department of Transportation, was 86.6 percent, up 13.1 points from February 2001. The airline’s completion factor - the number of flights flown expressed as a percentage of the number of flights scheduled - was 98.8, compared to 95.7 in February 2001.


International traffic in February was down 20.1 percent, while international capacity dropped 20.1 percent. Domestic traffic was down 11.1 percent year over year on a capacity decrease of 16.1 percent.


American boarded 6.6 million passengers in February, down 13.2 percent from a year ago.
