Galileo Launches E-Ticketing with SAS & Partners

As part of its continuing strategy to provide leading-edge and cost effective solutions for all players in the travel equation, Galileo International
, a leading provider of global distribution solutions for the travel industry, has deployed electronic ticketing with Swedish national carrier SAS in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the UK.
This service enhancement is made more comprehensive by the fact that Galileo has also introduced interline electronic ticketing between SAS and Wideroe Airlines, Cimber Airways and the German national carrier Lufthansa.

Christina Ngiam, general manager of Galileo Nordiska, believes all parties in the travel equation -travel agencies, the airlines and the travellers themselves - will now benefit from the latest electronic ticketing successes in the Galileo system.

“The deployment of electronic ticketing with SAS, its partner airlines in Scandinavia and Lufthansa, provides Galileo with the most comprehensive product offering in the market,” said Ngiam.  “Galileo continues to work with the world’s major airlines to increase the deployment of this value-add, service enhancement.  Electronic ticketing is part of a bigger portfolio of leading-edge solutions that Galileo offers the Scandinavian market, including our recently launched online corporate booking tool, Galileo SpecialAgent?, and our leading API technology, XML Select?

By deploying electronic ticketing, airlines contribute to cost-efficiencies of their own operations and help improve their revenue accounting processes.  At the same time they are able to offer an enhanced service to their customers, as electronic ticketing allows travellers to enjoy the freedom, efficiency, and ease of ticketless travel.  Galileo’s agency customers will also enjoy benefits from this service enhancement.  This includes no longer having to process or keep track of reams of paper tickets, and savings on personnel, processing, and delivery costs.

With this activation there are now 12 carriers offering electronic ticketing to Galileo customers throughout Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and 18 in the UK.  Worldwide, Galileo’s computer reservation systems now include 38 airlines that offer electronic ticketing in 34 countries.
