Virgin Atlantic has today announced that its pilots will be communicating the World Cup football scores over the PA system for passengers who are travelling during the World Cup.
The scores will be announced on all routes to countries competing in the tournament including England, USA, China, Japan and Nigeria, plus the results from Ireland?fs games. In addition to this there will be weekly screenings of highlights over the course of the tournament plus a ?eBest Goals?f programme at the end.
Sir Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Atlantic Airways, said:
?gThis is a fun way to ensure all football fans can stay in touch with what is happening during these all-important matches. Screening the highlights also ensures fans can watch the action either for the first time or experience it all over again. This means passengers who have to travel during a match don?ft miss out on all of the excitement.?h
The airline recently flew the 1966 Jules Rimet Trophy and actual football from the winning match under strict security to Japan for the 2002 World Cup celebrations.
