, developers of Dolphin for Windows, the leading edge office automation system for travel agencies, have released FlightScanner, a tool that will become a must on every travel agent?fs desk.
The capability to rapidly and efficiently search the Internet for the best fares has become a necessity in order to compete as a travel agent and to provide customers the added value that they demand. Today, customers use the Internet to carry out preliminary research and often know more about where and when they want to go and how much it will cost, than travel agents. Tools like FlightScanner help travel agents keep their competitive advantage by searching the Internet for information not available on their GDS screen.
Especially for business travel agents that charge transaction fees, being able to find and quickly book a low cost carrier is fundamental to their profitability and is a service that their corporate customers expect just as happens with traditional carriers available in the GDS. FlightScanner, coupled with Dolphin for Window?fs ability to automatically calculate transaction fees, allows a business travel agent to ensure that all options are offered to the customer and that at invoicing time the correct fee is applied to that transaction.
Once the agent has registered with FlightScanner and is given a password to access the protected site, searching with FlightScanner only takes 3 steps. First the user enters the search criteria. Second, FlightScanner checks all of the supported sites that cover that route and brings back the results of the search. In the third and final step, the user selects the fare required and FlightScanner opens a new browser window taking the user directly to the booking page for the fare selected.
Dolphin Dynamics President, Roberto Da Re
commented, ?gWe have always focused on providing break through technology to boost travel agents?f productivity and FlightScanner is another of these innovations. Now that transaction fees are becoming the norm and all airlines are starting to copy the successful Internet distribution model of the Low Cost carriers, travel agents find themselves having to turn to the Internet and airline Web sites more and more frequently to find the best fare for their customers.
“Unfortunately, these individual manual searches are so time consuming that they make this type of booking not profitable. FlightScanner is the answer with its multiple carrier single screen search facility. Without a tool like FlightScanner, travel agents risk being left behind, not by their competitors but by their customers.?h
Travel agents can go to www.FlightScanner.biz and register to use the search engine for free for a limited time. ABTA members will get immediate access to the system while non ABTA members will need to be contacted to validate that they are indeed a travel agent.
