BA Completes Implementation of Sabre FAM.

British Airways has recently completed the Phase II implementation of the Sabre Fleet Assignment Model (FAM), a tool that increases revenue and lowers costs.

FAM supports a wide range of fleet planning analyses, including fleet planning, schedule structure analysis, scenario-based seasonal schedule planning, operational studies, planning for special events, short-term tactical re-fleeting, comparing fleet lease or purchase options and determining the appropriate type of aircraft to provide maximum profit. The model`s mathematical optimization techniques produce profitable and operationally feasible solutions that are virtually impossible to generate manually. Sabre estimates that airlines using the model for medium- and long-term scheduling can generate incremental annual revenue of 2 to 3% and increase annual profitability between $5 million and $15 million when used for short-term re-fleeting. British Airways joins 12 airlines currently using the model, including Air France, Alitalia and, most recently, Lufthansa.
