SolarNet Adds New European Air Consolidator Business Through Matel

for the European and UK travel industry, and SolarNet
(Solars Computing
Systems Inc.;, a leading provider of
business-to-business information management and electronic distribution
solutions for the travel industry, have announced the signing of two new
European air consolidators.
The latest contracts are with two of Matel`s European air consolidator
customers, Benz Travel Ltd. and Allison Brothers Ltd, who currently use
Matel`s Faresbureau database and want to market their extensive inventory of
fares that originate in continental Europe to retail travel agents worldwide,
with a particular emphasis on the North American market.
“We have been aware of the Solarnet solution for air consolidators for
some time now and with the advent of the booking capability we are ready to go
ahead and be part of the European launch to retail travel agents,” stated
Kamal Pringa, CEO of Allison Brothers Ltd.
Since announcing the signing of a reseller agreement February 13, 2002,
whereby Matel will resell SolarNet`s multi-GDS (Global Distribution System)
connectivity to its European and United Kingdom travel vendor clients, Matel
has signed contracts with six consolidators: Global Travel Services of
Stockholm (, who specialize in fares to Asia and
Australasia; and five other London based consolidators who offer worldwide
destinations originating from every major airport in the UK: Air Travel Guide
(, Crystal Travel
( ), Ealing Travel Services Ltd.
(, Benz Travel Ltd. (
and Allison Brothers Ltd. (
Matel will charge its clients a service fee on every travel agent
transaction generated through SolarNet, and SolarNet will share in all
revenues. The first European consolidator is anticipated to go live on
SolarNet in late March, upon completion of the SolarNet/Matel Faresbureau
application protocol interface (API).
