bmi british midland outsources its sales and reservation services to Amadeus

Amadeus, a leading global distribution system (GDS) and travel industry technology provider, announces that bmi british midland, the UKå?Ls second largest airline, has successfully migrated its sales and distribution solutions to Amadeus and has thereby become an Amadeus System User airline.

The industry unique Amadeus System User concept with its global reach enables airlines to outsource all sales and distribution services while maintaining control of all core and commercially sensitive functions.

The Amadeus System User concept facilitates airlines to integrate with travel agencies that use the Amadeus system for their reservations. Such airlines have access to the most complete sales and distribution system available. As a consequence, bmi british midland will significantly reduce time to market for its products, and will be able to offer enhanced levels of customer service.

Equally significant, the System User concept also facilitates interaction between airline alliance members. As bmi british midland is a Star Alliance member, this now means that today, seven out of the fifteen Star Alliance members are Amadeus System Users. By becoming a System User, bmi british midland will be able to interface with these airlines in a totally seamless and transparent manner.  As a result, bmi british midland will benefit from a significant reduction in internal processing and servicing tasks and be able to dedicate more time and effort to ensure the needs of Star Alliance customers are fully met.
