Cheap Tickets reports that the number of registered users at cheaptickets.com increased nearly 100% in 2001 to 17 million, and logins increased 43% to 33.2 million.
In addition, Cheap Tickets continues to post significant gains in monthly unique visitors. According to Jupiter Media Metrix (JMM), traffic to Cheap Tickets Web site increased to 2.9 million in January 2002, a 66% increase over January 2001 and a 36% increase over December 2001. This follows December 2001 year-over-year growth of 146%.
Cheaptickets.com also continues to lead its competitors with the highest overall rating, according to independent surveys of customers of e-commerce sites conducted through BizRate.com. Cheap Tickets remains a forerunner in the online travel space, with an overall rating of 8.9, on a scale of 1-10. Only three other online travel agencies are rated by at least as many customers as Cheap Tickets—25,000—Expedia, Hotwire and Travelocity, which have overall ratings of 8.8, 8.7 and 8.8 respectively. Cheap Tickets, Expedia and Travelocity have been continually certified by BizRate since 1999.
New 2001 competitor, Orbitz, has been rated by at least 100 customers and has an overall rating of 8.6.
