Expedia/Worldspan Joint Development Search Engine Introduced.

Worldspan has introduced Worldspan ePricing, a revolutionary new server-based airfare search engine designed to offer a larger selection of fare options at lower operating costs than conventional mainframe-based transaction processing systems.
ePricing from Worldspan enables all types of travel sellers - travel agencies, Web-based travel sites, airlines and others - to offer consumers a better selection of ticket options while lowering their own system overhead costs.

“The launch of ePricing-truly the next generation in fare search technology-marks a key milestone in the evolution of our platforms,” commented Sue Powers, senior vice president - Worldwide Product Solutions for Worldspan. “With today`s announcement, Worldspan continues our leadership role in migrating to more flexible, lower cost systems, while at the same time enhancing the capacity, reliability and performance of those systems in today`s competitive environment.”

Operating from multiple Windows-based servers, Worldspan`s new search engine quickly executes complex pricing queries, accessing millions of fares and hundreds of thousands of fare combinations stored in the Worldspan reservations system. In addition, ePricing is fully scaleable to accommodate ever higher transaction volumes in the future.

Developed jointly by Worldspan and Expedia, this ground-breaking technology offers definitive low-fare searches, delivering the widest possible variety of fare and schedule options. And the more choices available, the more confident travel shoppers are that they`re getting the most convenient flight at the best price.

Worldspan ePricing is being integrated into Worldspan`s Power Product suite of fare and pricing solutions, giving Worldspan Power customers - from small independent travel agencies to large management companies and online travel sites - the highest level search capabilities available.
