Cognos Selected to Power Carlson Wagonlit Tool

Cognos(R) (Nasdaq: COGN; TSE: CSN), the leading global provider of business
intelligence solution, today announced that Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), a
world leader in business travel management with more than $12 billion in
annual sales, has selected Cognos` online analytical processing solution.  CWT
will utilize Cognos PowerPlay(R) for use in Discovery, CWT`s electronic
reporting tool.
Discovery, which delivers sophisticated travel expenditure
reporting via the Web, is one component of CWT Symphonie, the first fully
integrated travel management environment. Deployment of Discovery with the
Cognos business intelligence capability is scheduled for mid-2002.

Discovery currently serves more than 300 customers around the world with
another 800 expected to come online by 2003.  It is used by procurement and
travel managers, as well as corporate executives to track and research company
use of and spending on air, hotel, and car services.  Integrating Cognos
PowerPlay into Discovery, will allow end users to perform detailed,
multidimensional analysis on large volumes of summarized travel-spending data
in a Web, Windows, or Excel environment.

“Cognos solutions allow users at any business or technical skill level in
a company to perform their own multidimensional analysis, create reports, and
share them for better decision-making—all with a minimum of IT
administration,” said Loren Brown, Global Chief Information Officer, CWT.
“Cognos has developed a business intelligence solution with excellent
functionality and usability. This investment in Cognos will pay off.”

“As a worldwide leader in the business travel industry, CWT offers clients
a comprehensive, resourceful, and forward-thinking approach to business
travel,” said Alan Rottenberg, senior vice president, Cognos Analytic
Applications.  “We are pleased that CWT has selected Cognos solutions.  This
relationship further emphasizes Cognos` ability to deliver competitive
advantages across all industries.”
