Airtours has appointed three new directors and has set the date for the shareholder meeting to approve its proposed name change to MyTravel as February 7.
The group said Duncan Wilson, who joined Airtours in 1998 and had been deputy head of its UK business, would join the board in the new post of operations director. Airtours also added two external non-executive directors in a move welcomed by analysts. One said: “The board had got too cosy.” They are Kazia Kantor, the former finance director of Coats Viyella, and Angus Porter, currently managing director of the consumer division of BT Retail.
The company has cut at least 1600 jobs since October 2001 and has been criticised for the expenditure involved in changing the company name and repainting their aircraft.
