The number one destination for the year was Las Vegas followed by New York and Orlando. HRN through the third quarter of 2001, booked over 3 million room nights in more than 170 cities worldwide.

Las Vegas jumped to the #1 position, ahead of New York, largely due to
    the large number of cancellations following the Sept. 11 tragedies.
   
“However”, noted Bob Diener, president of Hotel Reservations Network:
    “New York is such a great value now, with many first class hotels offered
    on hoteldiscount.com between $99 and $149 a night, that there has been a
    large surge in reservations the last several weeks.”

 
Making the list for the first time is, Reno, a popular drive destination,
    that jumped to the #10 spot, as many travelers are now driving to their
    destination instead of flying.
