AA.com, Earns a Place in the `SMART BUSINESS 50` Capturing `Standard of Excellence` WebAward

The American Airlines Web site, AA.com, continues to increase bookings and earn accolades, further strengthening its leadership position among travel and e-commerce sites. The airline credits AA.com`s success to its Net SAAver Fares(R) and the other great deals found in the new Net SAAver and Special Offers(SM) section, as well as the popular Great American Get-Together fare sale—running now through Dec. 28, 2001—and other recent site enhancements, including award booking.


Since its introduction two months ago, the award-booking feature on AA.com already has helped customers redeem more than 400 million AAdvantage(R) miles online for award travel. The site`s new feature allows AAdvantage members to easily book the 25,000-mile PlanAAhead Award on AA.com. Plus, members who use the award-booking tool to book their trip receive the standard online booking bonus of up to 1,000 AAdvantage miles.


AA.com also continues to earn awards for its leadership in the e-business arena and the travel industry. In addition to ranking as one of Yahoo! Internet Life magazine`s “10 Most Popular Travel Sites,” the site recently was recognized by Smart Business magazine and the Web Marketing Association.


SMART BUSINESS 50

For the second year in a row, AA.com has been instrumental in American`s ranking in the “SMART BUSINESS 50,” a listing of the top 50 U.S. brick-and- mortar companies in e-business as compiled by Smart Business magazine. Companies on the list were honored for successfully using the Internet to enhance and expand their existing businesses.

American was cited for its high site traffic, successful AAdvantage Travel Awards Program and Roving Agent product. The magazine`s Sep. 2001 issue highlighted the “SMART BUSINESS 50.”
