Travelocity to Benefit Pennsylvania.

Travelocity.com plans to create 425 new jobs in Northeastern Pennsylvania over the next three years.

The company has already begun operations at its first dedicated sales center in Plains Township, Luzerne County. Its first facility in Pennsylvania, the center will support Travelocity.com`s growing cruise and vacations business.

Pennsylvania`s online marketing partnership with Travelocity.com consists of link exchanges, editorial treatment in content sections, banner advertisements, sponsorships and email distribution. This relationship helped increase the Commonwealth`s destination ranking from tenth to seventh nationally in hotel, rental car and airline bookings on the Travelocity.com site.

Pennsylvania`s official tourism web sites now receive, on average, more than 5,700 visitors per day—in part, due to strong relationships with partners like Travelocity.com. Visitors to the state`s tourism web sites have the option of linking to Travelocity.com to make online reservations, making it even easier to plan a trip to the Commonwealth.

The Governor`s Action Team - economic development professionals who report directly to Gov. Schweiker - worked with Travelocity.com to make this project a reality.
