Air Jamaica Sending Top Team To CMEx

Caribbean carrier, Air Jamaica, will send its top executives to the Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx), slated for Almond Beach Village in Barbados, December 4-8, 2003.

Air Jamaica, one of the conference`s co-producers since its inception two years ago, will be represented by Charles Spence, the airline`s newly appointed Regional Director, Marketing and Sales Jamaica and Caribbean; Regional Director of Public Relations - North America, Bridget Ziadie; and Claire Robinson, Regional Sales Manager - Special Markets Northeast USA.
“We are delighted to be one of the pioneering supporters of CMEx,” said Charles Spence, whose airline is Barbados` Designated Carrier to the United States. “And it is fitting that this, the fifth conference, is being held in Barbados on the 10th anniversary of the Island Summit that produced the Barbados Program of Action on the Sustainable Development of Islands. We encourage continued efforts to engage the media in discussions about the full economic, social and environmental impact of the world`s largest generator of wealth and jobs.”

CMEx is a biannual gathering of leading journalists and editors from the Caribbean as well as Europe and North America in an environment which encourages the lively exchange of ideas between movers and shakers. Cutting edge developments growing from the interaction between media, business, governments and the hospitality industry continue to emerge.
Focusing on “Tourism and Media: The Next Generation”, writers and editors, government delegates, hoteliers, airline leaders, cruise experts and other members of the Caribbean hospitality industry will meet for three days of intensive and lively dialogue and debate on how to ensure the region`s best and brightest are drawn to the Caribbean`s largest industry. Media professionals value CMEx for not only the heightened awareness of what to look for in considering tourism-related coverage but also on how they can influence the design of sensible tourism policies.
