Dwyer announces St. Kitts developments

St. Kitts, Minister of Tourism Dwyer. Astaphan reiterated the proposed construction of the 225-suite SuperClubs Grand Lido, which should get under way in the next nine months. The hotel will be located in the Frigate Bay area and will be the second largest chain to expand onto the Caribbean island.
Also announced at CTC-26 was the development of a maritime museum planned for Port Zante, the islands cruise ship pier facility. The project is in conjunction with the Anglo Dutch Maritime Archaeological Team (ADMAT), lead by Simon Spooner. The world-renowned team discover and document shipwrecks throughout the Caribbean.
The first nine holes of the Marriott resort`s golf course opens next month, although eye-witnesses and local media still claim that the course is in bad order and in need of much more maintenance. A second course (27 holes) is planned near Brimstone Hall fortress, as is an upscale villa development.
The minister also said the island plans to set up a film commission to promote the destination as a film/record and production centre.
