USVI `Excited` to host CTC-26

9th Sep 2003

The United States Virgin Islands (USVI) is excited to host this year’s premier Caribbean tourism educational and networking event, the 26th annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-26), Pamela Richards, USVI’s commissioner of tourism has said.
Ms. Richards told journalists that the USVI and the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Resort, the host hotel for CTC-26, had important historic ties to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) and that CTC-26 would strengthen those ties.
She was referring to an historic tourism meeting at the Frenchman’s Reef in 1976, at which the membership of the then Caribbean Tourism Association(CTA), the Caribbean Hotel Association, the Caribbean Tourism research and Development Centre(CTRC) and the Eastern Caribbean Tourism Association (ECTA), discussed the establishment of one Caribbean Tourism Organisation.
“As host of CTC-26 the USVI will again become a landmark in the history ofthe organisation as the decisions taken will be crucial in determining how the Caribbean’s tourism sector will move forward in the fiercely competitive global marketplace,” Ms.Richards said.
