Handal Receives Special Recognition

Charles Handal, regional manager, Southern U.S.A.
and Latin America for the Jamaica Tourist Board, was presented with a special recognition by the Board of Miami-Dade County Commissioners recently declaring July 24, 2003 “Charles Handal Day” in the county.


Handal was presented the award for his 30 years of service to the tourism industry in Jamaica
and Miami-Dade and for fostering cultural and trade relations with both regions.

“Mr. Handal has contributed to the development of this industry and visitor relations between Miami-Dade County, South Florida, the Southern United States, Jamaica, the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Dennis Moss, commissioner, Miami-Dade County.

As regional manager for the last 22 years, Handal and his team are responsible for sales for the southern U.S., Latin American and the Caribbean. During his tenure with the Jamaica Tourist Board, he has created inventive ways to market Jamaica to the U.S. and Latin American tourist market. He is the creator of the popular “Jamaica Week”
