Commissioner of Tourism Pamela C. Richards is pleased to announce that the United States Virgin Islands has been selected to receive the prestigious 2003 Successful Meetings Pinnacle Award, which recognises the islands` destination meeting support organisations. In a recent ballot poll, readers of the award-winning Successful Meetings magazine selected the USVI for this award, one of the most prestigious symbols of excellence among meeting planners.
“America`s Caribbean truly is a unique destination for the meetings and incentives market,” Richards said. “Our islands offer meeting planners the perfect venue for business meetings, with year-round warm temperatures, first-class accommodations, favourable tax treatment, a professional atmosphere for business and exciting leisure-time activities to enjoy when the work is done. We have efficient and successful meetings and incentives coordinators on St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas ready to assist meeting planners with all their needs.”
More than 75,000 readers of Successful Meetings voted in the 19th annual awards program. The readers are corporate sales and marketing executives, full-time meeting professionals and event planners, trade-show directors, and association executives involved with planning conventions and meetings. The United States Virgin Islands was selected by these individuals based on five criteria which include: overall service/support to meetings, incentive travel programs and conventions; overall quality of destination, hotels, meeting and trade show facilities; promotional support; supplier information; and registration and housing assistance.
The USVI will be listed in the 2003 Successful Meetings` Pinnacle Awards Directory, which will be published in August.
