Divi Resorts to Open Golf Club Complex

Divi Resorts have begun construction of a brand new a 9-hole golf course, The Links at Divi Aruba, and has also announced plans for the construction on a golf clubhouse which will house two restaurants and 240 new villas. 
The golf course, which is being designed by leading architects Litten/Viola J.V. of Boyton Beach, Florida, is slated for completion in March/April 2004, and will offer golfers play on Paspalum grass and over water on beautifully landscaped lagoons. 
The course will be open to the public, with premium tee times reserved for guests of the three Divi Resorts in Aruba (Divi Village Beach Resort, Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort, Divi Dutch Village Beach Resort) and of two their affiliate properties in Aruba, Divi Aruba and Tamarijn Aruba All Inclusives.
Construction on the clubhouse is expected to begin in June 2003 and completed in May 2004 and construction on the villas will begin in July/August 2003 with the first 52 units expected to open in September 2004. 


Designed to complement and complete the Divi Resorts Aruba holiday experience, the golf complex (course, clubhouse and villas) will be located at the Divi Village Beach Resort, which will be renamed the Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort, and across the street from the Divi Dutch Village and the Divi and Tamarijn Aruba All Inclusives. 
The course will have two par 5 holes, two par 3 holes and five par 4 holes, with three tee boxes per hole and distance markers at 150 and 200 yards. The back total length of the course will be 3,149 yards, the middle total length 2,857 yards and the front total length 2,410 yards. 


The course will feature a conveniently located beverage station and will offer a golf school with professional golf instruction (from $35 for group instruction and $60 for individual instruction) and lesson packages for both individuals and groups. The on-site golf school will offer a swing analysis station, driving range, and chipping and bunker practice areas. 
Guests of any of the Divi
properties in Aruba will be eligible for special discounted green fees, and resort guests and Divi timeshare owners will also be able to reserve tee times up to six months in advance via an Internet based request system that will be implemented in early 2004. 
Fees for 9 holes of golf including the use of a golf cart are as follows: Non-Guest ($70/$55) Divi Properties Guest ($50/$37), Local Resident ($45/$35), Replay Round Non-Guest ($35/$25), Re-play Round Divi Properties Guest ($30/20).  Rental clubs are available at a cost of $30/$20 per round.  All Rates are High Season/Low Season (High Season is mid-December to April 30, Low Season, May 1 - Mid-December). Special packages will also be available for cruise ship passengers wishing to use the course.
Located at the golf course, the two-story Divi Village Golf Clubhouse will offer a pro shop and two restaurants. To be completed in May 2004, the ground floor will house the locker rooms for non-hotel guests, pro shop with offering golf equipment and accessories, men’s and women’s apparel and other quality merchandise from Adidas/Taylormade and restaurant. The restaurant will serve a light breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual atmosphere overlooking the ninth hole and putting green. To be used primarily as an after golf venue, the open-air restaurant will be surrounded by a waterfall and will feature a large bar area and brick oven pizza.


The newly constructed golf course will provide the backdrop for some of the most luxurious holiday villas in Aruba. To be built in small private clusters and located on an island surrounded by the lagoons and golf course, the villa buildings will house studios and one- and two-bedroom suites each featuring luxurious amenities such as large screen televisions, Jacuzzi tubs and designer furnishings.
