CTO Announce Award Winners

The Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) last week announced the winners of its inaugural Travel Writer of the Year and Travel Photographer of the Year awards.


Bob Friel of Caribbean Travel and Life won the Travel Writer of the Year award for a series of articles on various Caribbean destinations while the Travel Photographer of the Year award has been won by Michael Ventura
whose photographs appeared in Caribbean Travel Planner, American Eagle’s Latitude, Abaco Life of the Bahamas and Conde Nast Traveller.


The two will be presented with their awards at the 30th annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball at the classy Waldorf = Astoria in New York on June 6, 2003.


The Travel Writer of the Year and Travel Photographer of the Year awards are part of the CTO Worldwide Travel Writer/Photographer Awards programme, introduced this year to reward writers and photographers for their excellence in covering Caribbean tourism.
CTO
received over 100 entries for the first contest and entries were judged on individual merit by a panel of judges including journalism professors, industry experts and people from various other professions.
