Sugar Shop opens at Montpelier Plantation Inn

With a nod to the Innå‘s rich history as a sugar plantation, the newly opened Sugar Shop adds to Montpelier Plantation Innå‘s mystique as an exclusive tropical retreat. Opened in December 2002 The Sugar Shop offers one-of-a-kind gifts from around the world that are as unique as the rare flowers found on the plantationå‘s grounds.

At The Sugar Shop you will find handmade items designed by international artists and craftsmen. One of the highlights is the exclusive line of jewelry designed by Gurmit, a New York-based designer and former fashion model. Mixing the sensuous with the sublime, and the glamour of Western culture with the mystery of the Far East, this unique jewelry is only available in the Caribbean at Montpelier.
Hand printed shirts and dresses from Bahama Hand Prints, a Bahama-based company well known for its “island chic” and comfortable clothing, and classic yet modern canvas Hable Construction bags in bright, fun colors and patterns can be found at The Sugar Shop. One-of-a-kind vintage and modern pieces from Cambodia, Vietnam, Belgium and Sweden pepper the shop and the Inn’s homemade jams and chutneys are available for those who want to take a piece of Montpelier home with them.

The Sugar Shop
is very much in keeping with the overall style of Montpelier Plantation Inn. A sublime escape, Montpelier
offers the warm hospitality and luxury that one would expect at a grand country house. The Inn’s seventeen rooms, with spectacular views of the sea and surrounding countryside, feature the finest Porthault linens, the delight of louvered windows and a private veranda.

The Inn features two gourmet restaurants overseen by six chefs, (three Nevisian and three European), a 60-foot mosaic tiled freshwater pool, 30-acres of landscaped tropical gardens, a tennis court and private two-acre beach. A host of activities available on the island include golf, horseback riding, sailing, deep sea fishing, and walks through the rainforest.
