This weekend, January 19-21, 2003, Puerto Rico will play host to the most important tourism-marketing event of the year for the Caribbean region. Previously known as CHA Marketplace, the event provides Caribbean hotels with an international marketplace to conduct negotiations in a business environment with pre-scheduled appointments.
This year promises to be bigger and better then ever before with opportunities for buyers and suppliers to meet socially as well as in the business forum.
This year the Virtual World Internet Group
will be promoting their groundbreaking ‘virtually’ sites at a specially constructed Internet café. Here clients will be able to witness the platform in action, and get a true taste of the systems potential as a marketing tool. Founded in 1995, Virtual World Internet is a virtual imaging service provider that delivers interactive solutions for a wide variety of applications in the travel and tourism sector. Virtual World Internet designs, develops, hosts and markets high-value visual content. They have a proven track record of delivering world-class solutions to some of the world leaders in travel and destination marketing. Speaking for the company Ben Roberts the Interactive Developer for World Internet Group said, ‘Our sites offer the best in the industry, the platform is unparalleled and the service provided is quite simply outstanding,’
This time the Internet Café will be sponsored by the Tobago Tourism Board, who have recently launched a new website and logo. John Cooper, who works for the Tobago Government and Board of Assembly, and is leading the new campaign said, “Tourism to Tobago is strong and continually on the increase, recent increased airlift has also helped improve awareness of this undiscovered gem of the Caribbean. The new website aims to continue this trend by portraying a good image of a small, quiet, delightful island, which is hurricane free, and has a continually tropical climate throughout the entire year.”
The new site has only been active for a short while and still requires minor adjustments, however the actual visual content is of a very high standard. The slogan reads ‘Discover the Beauty of Tobago’ and the adorning pictures visualise that beauty. There are various subsections that allow the visitor to find out information on Weddings and Honeymoons, Places of Interest, Events amongst other things. Tobago has much to offer any type of traveller, from the world’s largest formation of Brain Coral to Deep Sea Fishing tours and niche sports such as Windsurfing, Surfing and Sailing.
The Virtual World Internet Café can be found at the Caribbean Hotel Associations annual Marketplace in San Juan, Puerto Rico. CHA
member hotels and suppliers have the opportunity at Caribbean Marketplace to meet, discuss and contract for future business with more than 400 international buyers from around the world.
