Last December saw the highlight of the Dominican Republic social calendar, when none other then former United States Vice President, Al Gore, gave a speech on `Democracy and Development in times of Globalisation`.
The conference took place on Thursday 17 December and was held at Lbero-American University, (UNIBE). A select group of Dominican personalities attended the dissertation. It was the first time that Gore had visited the Dominican Republic. There are no plans for a repeat performance.
