BWIA Sends Support to United

BWIA West Indies Airways Limited today released a statement of support for United Airlines, who filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection on Monday 9 December, 2002.
President and CEO of BWIA, Mr. Conrad Aleong - ” BWIA considers United Airlines a strong partner and we are assured that United will use this period under Chapter 11 protection to restructure and evolve the Company toward a new profitability. As one of the world’s largest airlines, United will be charting a course that many other airlines, facing similar challenges, will benefit from. I am confident that United will find solutions for a new successful business model which smaller carriers like ours may be able to adopt.”

BWIA- the Trinidad and Tobago Flag Carrier - and United Airlines have a strategic alliance arrangement including certain code-share flights and frequent flyer programs which have been in place since mid-2000.
