Aruba Welcomes 500,000th Cruise Visitor

Last weekend became one filled with surprises for Joyce Jacobs and Alwin van Aken, as they were plucked off the cruise ship å“Carnival Destinyå” by executives of the Aruba Cruise Authority and recognized as Arubaå‘s 500,000th cruise ship visitors. After spending some rainy days on some other Caribbean Islandå‘s they finally arrived in Arubaå‘s port and received an exceptional surprise.
Mrs. Kitty Rojer of the Aruba Cruise Tourism Authority, explained to them that they were now VIP’s of the island of Aruba. The Dutch couples were extremely overwhelmed by all the attention, which included a bunch of gifts and special attentions during their short stay on Aruba.

In the evening there was a special celebration for the couple at Choose-A-Name, where Mr. Nilo Swean, Aruba’s Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs together with Mrs. Rojer and the other VIP invitees had a well-deserved champagne toast to commemorate this special occasion. This was Joyce’s first time visiting Aruba and the third time for Alwin.
