Music Festival Exceeds Expectation
Aruba was the place to be, this past weekend, as everyone enjoyed a spectacular Aruba Music Festival, which received only positive comments. Top-of-the-line performers such as the renowned, Arturo Sandoval, the bold, alluring lead female rock star Pat Benatar and the folk-like rock, Grammy award-winning band, The Doobie Brothers rocked the stage. They all presented their all time greatest hits as well as their latest releases, offering an enjoyable and unforgettable concert to all present. The local Aruban band, Sonic Lab 297 also impressed everyone with their unique style and special rhythms.
Both days of the Aruba Music Festival, experienced great attendance from both locals, as well, as a large group of tourist, who left the venue still smiling from the spectacular performances presented during the evening. Many expressed that they would be back next year to once again enjoy this spectacular event while spending a wonderful vacation on this “One Happy Island”. The performers also enjoyed their stay on Aruba, and had a chance to relax on the island’s sandy white beaches and turquoise waters.
Arturo Sandoval, was a protégé of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie. Taking up the trumpet at the age of twelve, Sandoval honed his talent, mixing with classical, rock and traditional Cuban music for a unique sound beloved in Europe, Latin America and the United States. Sandoval, renowned as an international lecturer and performer, has had twelve Grammy nominations and been awarded four Grammy’s, including the Best Latin Jazz Album in 1995.
Pat Benatar, with her strong voice and passion-filled songs like, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Love Is A Battlefield, and We Belong, became the image of the female rock star in the 1980’s. In addition to her classics and Grammy winning songs, Benatar performed songs from her new DVD and live concert CD Summer Vacation, which was released this March.
The Doobie Brothers have sustained a following for three decades with their diversified sounds, 27 chart singles, 16 Top 40 hits and 11 multi-platinum albums. The band’s folk style music, blended with elements of rock, country blues, R&B and jazz, led to the Doobie Brother’s success with songs such as Long Train Running, Takin It To The Streets and It Keeps You Running Along with their classic hits, the band performed music from their the 2000 release, Sibling Rivalry.
