Grand Bahama Island Just Keeps Getting Better

Nassau, The Bahamas, September 23, 2002 - BOYNTON BEACH, FL ... The Islands of The Bahamas and Discovery Cruise Line, in conjunction with Boynton Beach City Hall are conducting a passport drive to encourage US Citizens and Residents to travel to Grand Bahama Island. From now until October 16th 2002, mall-goers and shoppers can find a beautifully decorated window depicting Bahamian products, ranging from straw-hats, straw handbags, and beachwear made from the authentic Androsia designed cloth at the City Hall office located in the Boynton Beach Mall, Boynton Beach.


On September 14th 2002, Mr. Buster Morley, a one-man band delighted mall goers by delivering a taste of the rhythmic sounds of The Islands of The Bahamas. Both the young and the young at heart were moved by this popular Bahamian tempo. At this event persons were granted the opportunity to register to win a trip to the lovely Grand Bahama Island via the Discovery Cruise Line, with a three-day, two-night stay at Our Lucaya Resort. Persons that may have missed the opportunity to register for this grand prize, will have yet another opportunity to register on Saturday, October 12th 2002 at the Boynton Beach Mall, in front of the City Hall Office, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The drawing will be held on October 18th 2002 at the “Concert at the Beach” located at Ocean Front Park, Boynton Beach. Performing will be the popular Caribbean Band, -Island Heat. This amazing concert will be held from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. and will be complimented by a Bahamian Marketplace, featuring a food vendor, a straw vendor, and Junkanoo- the National festival of The Bahamas.
The food vendor will certainly entice the audience as he offers many specialty Bahamian dishes. The spectators will also be blessed with the chance to witness some of the intricate Bahamian art designs, displayed by the Straw Vendor. And, last but not least, a famous Junkanoo group will develop it?s own exceptional rhythm, using a collaboration of Bahamian hand made instruments. The Junkanoo musicians will use cowbells, goatskin drums and brass instruments to generate an incomparable musical beat.
