Plans are on the way for the 2003 Blues Festival in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The event slated for January 22nd to February 5th, is expected to feature a ” world class” line-up. This, according to Dana Gillespie who along with Vincentian Basil Charles has been spearheading the event since 1995. Gillespie says “This year’s festival will bring a real rich blend of authentic blues to the stages”.
Among the line-up are European guitar sensation Hans Theesink- who is returning to the festival after a 5-year absence, Eb Davis, Diz Watson and Zach Prather, who made his debut in the 2002 Festival.
The Blues Festival features shows on Mustique, Bequia and St Vincent. The St Vincent show is co-ordinated by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, while the Bequia Tourism Association has the responsibility for the event on that island.
It is anticipated that the 2003 Festival will be even more successful than in previous years. Headliners for next year’s event will be announced in the not too distant future.
