World Travel Awards Launch New Site

World Travel Awards the premier global awards event which aims to promote excellence in the travel and tourism industry has launched its new website and announced a six figure marketing campaign in an attempt to get travel professionals to vote online for their favourites in travel and tourism.
The six figure campaign will launch in mid-September and run for six weeks. The promotion will include paid listings positioning with search engine and directories Overture, Google and Espotting, an e-mail campaign to 45,000 travel professionals worldwide, media placement on leading travel portals including Travelocity, Sabre, TravelNow and a special banner campaign on the website’s of companies that have been nominated for an Award.
Tens of thousands of travel professionals from across the globe are expected to vote from when voting starts on the 10th of September until it closes on 20th October. To reflect the global nature of the Awards the voting section of the website has been translated into 12 different languages. Winners will be announced at the World Travel Awards ceremony, one of the highlights in the travel industry calendar, hosted this year by the new All-Inclusive Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa & Beach Resort on 25th of October.
The new site is the most comprehensive in the Awards’ nine year history. Key features include a streaming video of previous years ceremony, a live web cam link and virtual tours of this year’s luxurious venue in Sandals Grande St Lucian Resort & Spa in St Lucia as well as live news updates on the night of the event.
Developed by interactive agency Fortune Cookie the new site has also been specially designed to allow for easy access by individuals with partial sight and other disabilities. “We’re very proud that the World Travel Awards site is the first Awards site in the world to have successfully attained accreditations from web accessibility validators Bobby and W3C” commented organiser Manon Han.
