Award Winning Musicians in Aruba

Three internationally known acts and
one local band will perform at this year`s Aruba Music Festival on October
11 - 12 at the Aruba Entertainment Center.

Performing October 11th is the world famous trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and
rock legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Performing on October 12 is a
local Aruban band, Sonic Lab 297 and the Grammy award winning rock band The
Doobie Brothers.


Tickets are on sale now at Aruba`s Web site, www.aruba.com or for more
information call 1-800-TO-ARUBA. Ticket prices range from $35 for general
admission for each night or $50, which includes tickets plus transportation
to and from the concerts.  Travel packages are available through local
travel agents.

Arturo Sandoval: Born in Cuba, Sandoval`s sound is a mix of classical, rock
and traditional Cuban music. Winner of four Grammys, including the Best
Latin Jazz Album in 1995, Sandoval is beloved in Europe, Latin America and
the United States. Currently, Sandoval is a professor at Florida
International University in Miami.

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo: Best known for songs that catapulted Benatar
as the image of the female rock star in the 1980`s, such as “Hit Me With
Your Best Shot,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” and “We Belong,” the duo will also
perform songs from their new DVD and live concert CD Summer Vacation, which
was released this March.

Sonic Lab 297: Founded by Angelo Figueroa, a native of Aruba and son of
Oscar Figueroa, a popular Aruban guitarist in the 70`s, the band was formed
after Angelo found some of his father`s old tapes and unfinished works. The
first CD had three number one hit songs on Aruba`s Top 40, “Zoom, Zoom,”
“Tribulation,” and “Mañana.”

The Doobie Brothers: The band`s blend of folk, rock, country blues, R&B and
jazz has sustained a following for three decades with 27 chart singles, 16
top 40 hits and 11 multi-platinum albums.  Along with their classic hits,
“Long Train Running,” “Takin It To The Streets,” and “It Keeps You Running,”
The Doobie Brothers will perform music from their 2000 release, Sibling
Rivalry.
