CTO Signs Deal with e-Marketing,Inc.
NEW YORK, NY (Aug. 19, 2002) - The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has negotiated a deal with e-Marketing Inc., one of the travel industry’s leading electronic communications companies, that offers e-Marketing’s products and services at a reduced rate to CTO-member countries. As a result of this one-year agreement, Caribbean governments will be able to send e-mail broadcasts to e-Marketing’s database of nearly 60,000 travel agents at a savings of nearly 40 percent off of the regular price.
e-Marketing develops comprehensive e-mail campaigns for travel suppliers that include design, broadcast and follow-up services. CTO-member governments may inform travel agents about upcoming events, destination specials, new attractions and much more by sending an e-mail broadcast to e-Marketing’s database of agents in the U.S. and Canada.
“In today’s competitive global arena, it is vital for destinations to use the latest technology to market their products to a targeted audience,” said Hugh Riley, CTO’s director of marketing for the Americas. “By using e-Marketing’s electronic services through the CTO, the governments of the Caribbean will be able to market the region cost-effectively, to qualified agents selling leisure travel to their clientele.”
In an effort to promote the upcoming Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-25), to be held Oct. 28-31, 2002 at Our Lucaya Golf & Beach Resort, Grand Bahama Island, CTO will utilize e-Marketing’s services to create a broadcast invitation to publicize conference highlights to the travel agent database.
In addition to e-mail broadcasts, CTO-member countries may utilize e-Marketing’s other services for a fraction of the regular price. One popular product is the E-brochure - an electronic version of a travel supplier’s brochure. The E-brochure gives suppliers the ability to deliver a high-quality, easy-to-navigate brochure directly to the travel agent’s desktop in a matter of seconds. Agents can forward a supplier’s E-brochure to their clients via e-mail or consumers can receive it electronically from a supplier.

e-Marketing developed the first qualified travel agent e-mail database in the industry in 1998. This was accomplished by conducting an extensive telemarketing campaign in which travel agents were asked if they could be added to the e-Marketing database in order to receive travel information via e-mail. The first database marketed to travel suppliers contained 17,400 e-mail addresses. Today, e-Marketing maintains a travel agent e-mail database with almost 60,000 addresses in the U.S. and Canada, including IATAN, ASTA, ARTA, CLIA and Modernagent.com agents.
