eSubstance content solution for Opodo helps create revolutionary travel site

Opodo, the new online travel company created by nine of Europeå‘s leading airlines (Aer Lingus, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, KLM and Lufthansa) launched on November 30th in Germany, selling flights and providing a choice of hotel rooms, car hire locations and travel insurance. Opodo features travel information, including country and city guides and factsheets digitised by eSubstance, Europeå‘s leading provider of online content and knowledge management solutions.

Other features include images, airport guides and location maps.


The broad content was selected by Opodo and prepared for online publishing by eSubstance in collaboration with Opodo. The content includes 10,000 specially selected tourist attractions that have been taken from a range of sources and re-purposed and optimised for the web by eSubstance and Opodo. eSubstance offers a complete multi-language content solution, managing the entire process of rights acquisition, digitisation, XML tagging and delivery in preparation for client testing.


Opodo’s initial launch was in Germany on November 30th and will be followed by opodo.co.uk and opodo.fr early next year.
