Over 33 percent of Choice Hotels International’s (NYSE:CHH) domestic system, or 850 franchisees representing 1,100 properties, are registered users of, Choice’s web-based purchasing system.

Since its launch nine months ago, has grown to accommodate 135 endorsed vendors offering over 6,500 products, ranging from designer bedspreads to shampoo to light bulbs.

“ represents the first real opportunity that any hotel chain has offered to obtain business over the Internet,” said Eric Lazarus, vice president, sales and marketing for B. Lazarus, Inc, maker of bedspreads, draperies and fabrics. “Clients can review all our designs, see room settings, choose colors, get pricing and even request samples.” B. Lazarus offers more than 600 items through the system.

According to Regina Workman, general manager of the Comfort Inn in Beckley, West Virginia, the system’s efficiency is its greatest benefit. “ is quick and convenient,” said Workman. “I handle all ordering for our hotel and I have not made one phone call to a supplier’s rep since registering on It is a great research and purchasing medium.”
