Pegasus Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:PEGS) has announced it recently signed agreements with four travel-related Web sites in the United Kingdom to provide online hotel reservations capabilities.
ThePlaceToStay.co.uk and Direct-Hotels.co.uk are now Powered by Pegasus(TM), and Ebookers.com (Nasdaq:EBKR)(LSE: EBR, Neuer Market: eb6) and LateRooms.com soon will be. Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions (www.pegs.com ) is a leading provider of hotel industry transaction processing solutions and electronic commerce services.
Through the agreements, Pegasus provides the Web sites with a direct connection to the central reservations systems (CRS) of the 42,000 hotels represented in Pegasus` Online Distribution Database. As a result, the Web sites` customers can view detailed property information, rates and photos, and secure instant real-time reservations 24 hours a day. Ranging from luxurious five-star hotels to independent family-run properties, more than 40 percent of the hotels in Pegasus` database are located outside the United States.
Www.theplacetostay.co.uk and www.direct-hotels.co.uk are now live with Pegasus` technology. Initially designed to offer guest accommodations in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Web sites now offer hotel rooms in more than 200 cities throughout Europe and plan to expand globally to include all of Pegasus` 42,000 hotel customers.
Ebookers.com (www.ebookers.com ) is an online spin-off of Flightbookers, a London-based travel agency founded in 1983. According to the research firm PhoCusWright`s European Online Travel Market Report, Ebookers.com is Europe`s leading online travel agency measured by estimates of market share and revenues in 2000.
Ebookers.com, which serves 11 European countries selling discount flights, hotels, car rentals and package holidays, is scheduled to roll out Pegasus` XML technology during the fourth quarter of 2001 and into the first quarter of 2002.
LateRooms.com (www.laterooms.com ) is a Web site that specializes in late-availability hotel rates. The Web site is available in five different languages and is scheduled to go live with Pegasus` technology by the first quarter of 2002.
