Chicago-based Orbitz reports that both site traffic and sales transactions have set new records demonstrating the site`s continued growth, despite the overall slowdown in travel buying post-September 11.

Orbitz reached a new peak in site traffic during October, when 6.3 million unique users visited the site, up from 4 million in September and 5.9 million in August, according to data just released by Nielsen//NetRatings division. Separately, Nielsen//NetRatings reported that Internet use in the U.S. reached an all- time high in October, rising 4% to 115.2 million users.
