Bookings across the Travel Extras Web site have hit the 40,000 mark since going online with TravelOptions last December.
Powered by TravelOptions - one of the UK`s fastest-growing tour operator systems providers - the site offers real-time bookings on car rental in 5000 destinations worldwide, together with a host of other products including accommodation, insurance and car parking.
According to Travel Extras, its site has already handled over £6m worth of bookings since launch. Reservations are passed seamlessly into Travel Extras` back-office system, also provided by TravelOptions, resulting in a dramatic improvement in booking and administration times.
Because TravelOptions runs over a PC server there is no need for a high-cost, high-maintenance server. As a result, the operator`s in-house system can operate across up to 200 individual PCs or dumb terminals at speeds faster than more expensive products. Furthermore, the system`s flexibility makes possible both direct and commissionable travel agency bookings.
Travel Extras is the latest company to be web-enabled by TravelOptions. Other companies harnessing the supplier`s systems include Shortbreaks, SkiWorld, Cottages to Castles, Teletickets and the Independent Holiday Company.
