OpenGrid, a provider of mobile solutions for the hospitality and promotions industries, has added support for WAP phones to its FastBook service for Hilton Hotels Corporation.

Hilton recently began offering customers the ability to search for hotel information, book hotel reservations and access guest loyalty programs using wireless devices such as Palm and Handspring PDAs, and now WAP-enabled mobile phones.

With FastBook, customers can access wireless information and reservation services at 350 U.S. Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn and Conrad hotels. Members of the Hilton HHonors guest loyalty program also now have the opportunity to access their pre-loaded account profiles easily on their mobile devices. The company said it will move forward in launching similar information services for its entire family of brands, which includes 2,000 hotels and resorts throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

OpenGrid markets the wireless reservation system as offering hotels and other travel industry businesses a simple, hosted solution enabling that includes: a. Wireless Web Hosting: A highly scalable environment using state-of-the-art security, with co-located servers to ensure maximum uptime. b. Wireless Device Rendering: Content can be viewed on most Internet-enabled Palm OS PDAs and WAP-enabled cellular phones. c. Transaction Enablement: Mobile commerce functions allow customers to check availability and rates. d. Administration and Reporting: Secure, real-time tracking and reporting of all transactions.
