Future plans for Expedia call for aggressive expansion in Europe.

Mr James Veile has warned the public to be prepared for some major announcements, following the news that Expedia had joined forces with French Railways, SNCF, in developing an online joint travel venture.

66% of online travel bookings in France relate to rail travel and Expedia felt that this joint venture was a natural progression in their development. SNCF has a 10.2% reach in online travel in France, compared to 3% for the degriftour/lastminute.com partnership, thus giving Expedia a strong foothold in the market.

Over the last 7 months, Expedia has been building up a physical presence in France .
