Amadeus, a leading global distribution system (GDS) and travel industry technology provider, confirmed that it is a key technology partner of Opodo, the new pan-European travel portal launching today.
Under the terms of the technology partnership, Amadeus is providing an integrated set of applications and services including personalized e-commerce booking engine solutions, GDS access, and services that will support Opodo`s plans to deliver a highly personalized level of online customer service, tailored for every country market it enters.
At the heart of this solution is BroadVision-Amadeus Travel Commerce - the first application of its kind that provides travel organizations with the tools to build applications that can give customers personalized offers, based on their travel history and profile. Developed jointly by Amadeus and BroadVision, this solution allows travel organizations to build applications which treat customers as individuals, and delivers a personalized service. Opodo will use this system to tailor a unique personal experience for every customer, while facilitating unprecedented levels of customer conversion and retention rates, and reducing Opodo«s customer acquisition costs.
Amadeus is playing a central role in fulfilling Opodo`s localization strategy, which sees it rolling out on a country by country basis, with specially created Web sites for each market. The Amadeus e-commerce booking engine and interface are fully customizable and available in 18 languages, allowing Opodo to build its localized content, targeted at the specific requirements and preferences of consumers in a given country. Apart from local languages and currencies, Opodo`s system will cover news, information, weather and country specific deals and offers.
Amadeus is also helping Opodo to give its customers a new and more consumer-friendly experience of buying Travel online. The Amadeus booking engine solution supports advanced data segmentation, that enables Opodo to build travel reservation applications that will allow its customers to search for their travel needs by destination or by theme (such as, for example, golf, romance, beach holiday etc.). Up to now, travel sites and associated travel searches have been oriented around destinations.
Behind the scenes, Amadeus is providing Opodo with access to the Amadeus System, the powerful computerized bookings and reservations system, support for Web hosting, and support for fulfillment services.
