African-Inspired Treatments at The New Mount Grace Spa

7th Oct 2002

Have you ever been tempted to treat yourself to the Cashan Detox Deluxe, relax under a waterfall of cascading cool water or float effortlessly in a brine rock pool? Then these and other luxurious therapies, including a number of specialist treatments using mud and marine extracts, await you at the new state-of-the-art spa complex, at the Mount Grace Country House and Spa, South Africa.
The spectacular Mount Grace Spa, opening in early September 2002, brings a new level of luxury, privacy and tranquility to this romantic country retreat in the scenic Magaliesberg Mountains. Many of the spa treatments are inspired by indigenous African plants that grow abundantly in the Mount Grace gardens and on the surrounding hills.
The Mount Grace Spa offers a huge variety of specialist face, skin and body treatments including hot stone therapy massages, hydrotherapy baths, self-heating healing mud packs, exfoliating body scrubs, scalp massages detoxifying and hydrating body wraps, anti-ageing treatments and a host of other indulgent treats.
The highlight of the spa complex is the hydrotherapy spa garden, a perfect retreat for quiet contemplation and meditation and makes the most of South Africa’s warm, sunny climate. The two heated jacuzzi pools with soothing water jets are in the form of rock pools, a frieze painted roof covering the brine pool and with piped music creates a feeling of well-being whilst relaxing in the supportive waters. The garden’s natural rock pools and streams incorporate cooling waterfalls ideal for relaxing under, whilst enjoying the magnificent views over the Magaliesberg Mountains.

The double-storey thatched and natural stone spa lodge (built on a curve to resemble a baby in the foetal position) embodies comfort, calm and relaxation. There are five private treatment rooms including a ‘wet’ treatment room which is also suitable for disabled guests and a double treatment room housing two plinths for couples or close friends to experience treatments together! The personalised attention from a team of highly qualified, professional resident therapists makes for a memorable spa experience with a difference.
The spa complex is surrounded by 10 luxuriously appointed Mountain Village suites each with a private heated plunge pool. The hotel’s guest rooms are set in sprawling gardens of extraordinary natural beauty within the grounds of the Mount Grace. Located an hour from both Johannesburg and Pretoria it is the perfect setting to experience total relaxation and the rejuvenation of body, mind and spirit.
The spa café offers guests a choice of light, healthy salads, soups and smoothies suitable for detox programmes and wholesome sandwiches and lunchtime meals. The emphasis is on health-giving, feel-good ingredients.
To complete the spa package the Mount Grace has developed their own unique range of African bush-inspired beauty products under the ‘Essence of Grace’ label. This new range is designed for use within the spa complex and allows guests to take the ‘spa experience’ home. The internationally acclaimed Phytomer range of spa products are to be used alongside the ‘Grace’ products.
Mount Grace is offering special one, two and three day spa packages (including spa treatments and Mountain Village accommodation) from 1 September to 31 December 2002. These special packages start from R3600 based on two people sharing. For pictures and prices visit
