Online Bookings Soar for Delta

Delta Air Lines has said that May emerged as its best month ever for online activity at its Web site,
In May, Delta sold more than 330,000 tickets online through, for corporations, and the Online Agency Service Center—generating nearly $100 million in online revenue. Delta began selling tickets online in 1996.
Delta also said that May`s record ticket sales represent a 34% increase over the same month in 2000, and the online revenue climbed 62% higher. In addition, approximately 168,000 new SkyMiles members enrolled online, 19% more than May 2000, and more than 165,000 members registered for Delta`s comprehensive e-mail program that includes weekly promotional Web Fares, Fan Fares, SkyMiles offers and more. According to The Online Travel Marketplace 2001-2003, published by PhoCusWright Inc. - an independent strategy and research company focused on the online travel marketplace - Delta ranked second as a top supplier on the Web among major airlines for 2000. Delta expects more than 20% of its tickets to be booked online by the end of 2001.
