Web sales have been growing briskly, despite the perception of a slowdown in the U.S. economy, according to a reprt in InternetWeekOnline.
“Travel is at the cheapest it has been for a long time” was the view at Priceline.com and the lower leisure prices have been luring travellers to the Net.
Benefits have been felt by both online agencies and airline websites. Travel-related transactions outgrew most categories in terms of online dollar sales. The number of households shopping online grew to 15.6 million in April from 13.3 million in March. The average online purchase rose to $273 in April from $263 in March.
