Search crews have found more bodies in the Atlantic Ocean, bringing the total recovered from Air France Flight 447 to 29.

They have also recovered the vertical stabiliser from the tail section of the airliner, according to Air Force Col. Henry Munhoz, a spokesman for the Brazilian airforce.

This section is thought to help narrow the search for the aircraft’s black boxes, as the data and voice recorders are located in the fuselage near the tail of the jet.

Brazilian military officials discovered the stabiliser, which was still in its original triangular shape and was not visibly burned, with Air France’s blue-and-red stripes intact.
