Allegria Hotel and Spa to Open in May

The new Allegria Hotel & Spa, scheduled to open in
May 2009, promises to live up to its name, which means joy or happiness in Italian - it also happens to
be the name of owner, Allen Rosenberg’s mother. The 143-room hotel fronts the Atlantic Ocean, on
the south shore of Long Island, and is less than 30 miles from Manhattan.Once a popular summer resort town for the Northeast region, Long Beach has a rich history
as a tourist destination. In the late 1990s developers began investing in the city’s waterfront and
today, old hotels situated along a two-mile-long boardwalk have morphed into luxury
condominiums. Indeed, Allegria Hotel & Spa will represent the redesign of an existing seven-story,
oceanfront structure.
“Allegria is within an hour of Manhattan and the Hamptons,” according to Allen Rosenberg,
Owner and Founder of Allegria Hotel & Spa. “All year-round New Yorkers seek out a place to
escape for weekend getaways. Between our location right on the beach, stylish rooms, full-service
spa and superb restaurant, we will offer a winning combination.”
For the Allegria project Rosenberg selected New York-based Tonny Sadha Interior Design
Inc. whose previous projects have included the W Hotel in New York City and the Spa at The Four
Seasons in Austin, Texas among others. The property will include 112 guestrooms, 31 luxurious
suites, a restaurant and bar, a ballroom that seats 200, three meeting rooms, a fitness center and a
roof-top spa and infinity-edge pool. The ground floor will also have a retail outlet.
The décor will draw inspiration from its oceanfront location, with a white and sand color
palette, accented with driftwood and periwinkle. Highlights will include a stunning lobby facing
the ocean and a circular, glass-mosaic bar. The white sand shores of Long Beach will be accessed
through a private entrance, using a tunnel to connect the hotel and beach. Here visitors will indulge
in the services of a beach concierge that will provide such luxuries as seaside beverages and savory
snacks, and the essentials of sunscreen, umbrellas, and comfortable chairs to help soak up the day’s
sun. Mini spa treatments from the hotel’s signature spa will also be offered as an added pleasure for
beach enthusiasts that want to pamper themselves. For the more adventuresome types, surf and bike
rentals will be available as well.

The Allegria Spa will operate under the direction of New York spa impresario Joseph
Christopher, well known in the community for his other award-winning spas on Long Island.
Along with breathtaking ocean views and an extensive line of soothing treatments and body rituals,
the 10,000 square-foot roof-top spa will envelop guests in ultimate tranquility and pampering. A
poolside bar, Jacks on the Rocks, will also be found on the roof. It will serve light spa fare and
organic juices and smoothies, all prepared under the direction of Chef Todd Jacobs. A full-service
fitness center, featuring ocean views, will be located one level down.
Apart from three rooms for breakout meetings, a ballroom that can accommodate 200 guests
will be incorporated into the design of the property. Perhaps equally important, the oceanfront
location will afford the added bonus of offering weddings on the beach and special group events
under the stars, with proper permits.
