Curacao’s first chain hotel in 15 years opens

The Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino has officially opened, making it the first chain hotel to open on the Caribbean island for 15 years.
The 237-room property is located on Willemstad’s historic waterfront and connected to the legendary Rif Fort, a 19th century landmark and UNESCO World Heritage site.
The resort blends contemporary Caribbean style and traditional European design, evoking the architecture that can be found throughout Curacao, one of the largest islands located in the Dutch Lesser Antilles.
The resort boasts a white sand “Eternity Beach” - an engineered beach featuring water displaced by sand in an edgeless infinity pool design, a world first. The beach, which sits above sea level, is located adjacent to the resort’s freshwater infinity pool, both offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.
There are 14 spacious suites including two, one-bedroom Majestic Suites, all with free broadband and sweeping views.
“The Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino is truly a destination within a destination, offering nightlife, entertainment, gaming, dining and shopping all in one place,” said Maylin Trenidad, general manager of the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino.
Facilities include a 15,000-square-foot Carnaval Casino, a wide range of restaurants, lounges, bars, ice cream palours and a steakhouse. The resort features a large fitness centre with the latest strength training and cardiovascular equipment complimentary to all guests, and the soon-to-debut Aqua Spa, located within the Rif Fort.
An open-air shopping centre, the Renaissance Mall, is also opening soon and will boast a six-theatre cinema, 50 upscale shops and additional restaurants, lounges and bars.
The resort’s meeting and banquet facilities will be complete next month, offering 8,600 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor function space, including a ballroom, an atrium, a coffee lounge, two board rooms and a business centre.
