In 2009, Lithuania celebrates the millennium of its name, a symbolic borderline of its prehistory and the starting point of its civilization. No other date in the second half of the 20th century or the beginning of the 21st century comes close to the importance of this jubilee date for the history of Lithuania.
Lithuania inhabited by people of Baltic descent, was once a powerful empire stretching from Baltic Sea to Black Sea. It is now known for its fascinating history, beautiful nature and friendly, welcoming people.
Lithuania has one of the nicest capitals in Europe - Vilnius, which is still undiscovered by mass tourism.
Close to Vilnius, is the fascinating 15th century Trakai Castle, a magnificent monument to the past glory of Lithuania, where a Medieval Feast can be organized. January 2009 marks the start of the large-scale project ARTscape, which will present the contemporary cultural scenes of different European countries. Helsinki became the first European Capital of Culture of the 21st century, therefore ARTscape not accidentally starts its program with a representation of contemporary art, cinema and jazz from this most Northern European country. ARTscape is an integral part of the national program ?Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009”. The project is co-organized by some of the most qualified cultural institutions: Kino Pavasaris, Vilnius Jazz and gallery ?Vartai”.

Lithuania has a strong and long Pagan history where many traditions still survive. You will have the unique opportunity to participate in a special place of worship traditional pagan rituals. Listening to the traditional pagan music and tasting an authentic meal without cutlery, you can either choose to get involved in the rituals or just watch, and have plenty of fun.
