Spirit seeks Columbian addition

Ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation requesting authorization to begin service between Fort Lauderdale and Armenia, Colombia.  If approved, Spirit plans to begin non-stop service between the two cities by summer 2009.This will complement Spirit’s current Colombian service, including daily non-stop service from Fort Lauderdale to both Bogota and Cartagena, including daily connections from 16 cities in the United States.  And as Spirit announced yesterday, the airline will also begin daily non-stop service to Medellin, Colombia on March 1, 2009.
