RIU opens fourth hotel in Jamaica

RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened its fourth hotel in Jamaica. The five-star Riu Montego Bay hotel is the group’s first establishment in Montego Bay, the country’s most popular tourist destination and second most important city after the capital, Kingston.
This brand-new resort joins the two RIU located in Negril (ClubHotel Riu Negril and Riu Tropical Bay) and the hotel in Ocho R’os (ClubHotel Riu Ocho R’os).

Riu Hotels & Resorts was the first Spanish hotel group to take an interest in Jamaica, when it opened the Riu Tropical Bay in Negril in March 2001. This Caribbean country is quickly building a reputation as a major draw for international tourism investments. This new opening makes RIU one of the most important hotel groups operating in the country, with an offer of 2,373 rooms.

Riu Montego Bay features 681 rooms and is located right on a beach with fine white sand just over 2.5 km from Montego Bay International Airport and 4.5 km from the city centre, where visitors will find a wide-ranging, fun-filled leisure offer.

After a multimillion remodelling project, RIU’s oldest hotel in Jamaica, the Riu Tropical Bay, will be reopening its doors in December 2008 as the Riu Palace Tropical Bay, the country’s first hotel in RIU’s most luxurious and sophisticated line, Riu Palace, characterised by top-rate service and majestic architecture.
